🪲What is BUGFEST?

Last July, under the full moon on the shores of Epekwitk (PEI), we were officially married (surprise!) in a small and intimate ceremony with just our parents present. It was a simple, tender, and perfectly right celebration of our love at that moment.

…but we, James and Lucas (aka the “bugs” — what we call one another), want to stretch and expand those vows far and wide to share them with the people who have held us, inspired us, and loved us all along the way. That’s why we’re inviting you to BUGFEST happening Friday July 3rd to Sunday July 5th 2026: three days of living, creating, celebrating, and loving together.

🏕️ Think: summer camp x art festival. We’ll reunite, create, feast, perform, explore, and celebrate not just our union but the whole buzzing, beautiful web of community that makes us possible.

📍Where?

Pearson College UWC is located on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia Canada — nestled in Metchosin on the edge of the Salish Sea on the traditional territory of the SC’IȺNEW People, surrounded by beautiful forests and breathtaking waterfront. For the festival, we’ll all stay together in a shared dorm (simple, cozy, communal, like summer camp!) and cook and share food together. 

✅ Food will be fully covered + full accommodation for the three days will be offered at a minimal cost (~$60 CAD per night*).

🚐 We’ll endeavour to provide group airport pick-up, and any and all transportation for the entirety of the weekend for folks without vehicles present (jump on the BUGBUS!)

*If you are local and hoping to join us just for the days, you are more than welcome to! Also if you need any financial support to cover accommodation, let us know, no questions asked.

We understand that not everyone will be able to make the journey. If you can’t join us on in person, please know you’ll still be part of our celebration of love, and we’ll share ways to connect and celebrate wherever you are from afar.
